Workshop “Evaluation Tools: training on the E-EVALINTO online environment”

Are teachers able to manage the assessment of a learning activity properly?
How to design an evaluation tool where the role of assessor can be undertaken by both teachers, mentors and students, through self-assessment or peer assessment?

Gregorio Rodríguez Gómez, Professor of Educational Research Methods at the Didactic Department of the University of Cádiz (Spain), trained the E-EVALINTO team to design, manage and implement evaluation tools by using the EVALCOMIX app for Moodle during a workshop held in Florence last 5th of July.

The workshop was performed by proposing the development of several activities to the attendees, through an active learning methodology, aimed to let them become aware of the steps required to design different learning activities with their assessment tools to be analyzed by the E-EVALINTO environment.

 

The propose of this training is to spread the skills to use the environment by turning each attendant into a trainer in their own institutions and school contexts.

2nd transnational project meeting in Florence

Oxfam Italia hosted the 2nd project meeting in Florence (4th – 6th of July).

The main objective of the meeting was to review the design of the training course for teachers scheduled for autumn 2017.

The 2nd day was totally devoted to the workshop “Evaluation Tools: training on the E-EVALINTO online environment”.

Talking about E-EVALINTO with the team of the EFI_DIGCOM_CYL project

On the occasion of AIDIPE 2017 XVIII Congreso Internacional de Investigación Educativa (Salamanca, 28th-30th of June 2017), Antonio M. Seoane Pardo and María José Rodríguez Conde presented the approach of the E-EVALINTO assessment of peer mentoring activities to their colleagues from universities and secondary schools of Castilla y León involved with them in the EFI_DIGCOM_CYL project Evaluación, Formación e Innovación en Competencias Digitales en Castilla y León.

Beside the added value of sharing experiences and good practices for an advance in research, the activity plan of E-EVALINTO for the next school year has been described so to keep potential new pilot schools informed.

CARDET conducted a workshop about unaccompanied minors on the International Children’s Day

On the 1st of June 2017, on the occasion of the International Children’s Day, CARDET conducted a workshop under the title “Tell my Story” within the framework of the E-EVALINTO project. The main theme of the workshop was the lives of unaccompanied minors in the host countries. The workshop’s theme was developed around the real stories of three children from the moment they were forced to leave their country and their family until they arrived at reception centers in Athens (Greece).

These stories were brought to light from the organization Médecins sans Frontières – Doctors without Borders.

More specifically, three sixth grade classes at the Lakatamias E’ Elementary School in Nicosia had the opportunity to participate to the workshop. The workshop was experiential and the main purpose was to raise awareness and promote and understanding on the welfare, well-being and the rights of unaccompanied minors living in the host countries.

Inaugural Centre for Evaluation, Quality and Inspection (EQI) Keynote Lecture

EQI, the research centre of the Dublin City University partner of the E-EVALINTO project held a Keynote Lecture a couple of weeks ago which was given by the Chief Inspector of the Department of Education and Skills, Dr. Harold Hislop. The lecture provided a comprehensive overview of the development, current realities and future challenges facing school inspection and evaluation in Ireland.

The E-EVALINTO project was mentioned as one of the European projects that EQI is engaged in. The audience were a variety of leading figures in the Irish education system.

Conference presentation on E-Evalinto at SIETAR

Joe O’Hara and  Bernadette Sweetman of the DCU Institute of Education gave a presentation of the E-Evalinto project at the international conference (SIETAR) on intercultural education which took place in Dublin last May 26th.

WYRED Slogan Competition Winners

Last March “Get Wyred” call invited young people to propose the slogan for the WYRED network as part of an international competition.

270 proposals came from young people from Turkey, Italy, Northern Ireland, Austria, Spain, Cyprus, Great Britain and Georgia.

The slogans revealed a reflection of the peculiar and at the same time global position of today’s youth as well as their vision of what network WYRED could do for them.

After careful analysis and evaluation by the consortium’s commission, three slogans were selected for three age categories based on the message, content and rhyme of each proposal.

The winners are:

2nd project meeting in Vienna

 

The WYRED consortium held its second meeting at the end of May in Vienna, the home of our partner MOVES. While other parts of Europe had rain, we enjoyed a very sunny and warm couple of days at Impact Hub Vienna, a pleasant airy venue for the meeting, with interesting decoration, as you can see!

The meeting was very successful.

The project is at the end of the Delphi stage of the research cycle and the social dialogue stage is just beginning, in which young people will discuss the themes that most interest them and identify questions that they want to research in the next stage, which runs from July through to the New Year of 2018. The process is generating interesting insights about the issues that most concern young people, and about the differences between the subjects adults feel are important and those that young people feel most strongly about. A particularly interesting contrast arises in relation to the relative importance that each group gives to media literacy, and this is something the project may be examining in more detail as the work progresses.

The project is also about to launch its internal platform which will make it possible for young people from all over Europe to join in online. We will publish more news about this soon.

Getting WYRED in Italy…

When the WYRED project was launched back in fall 2016 many open questions raised in the air. Several partners from academia, national education systems, NGOs and youth organisations planning the steps leading a research project where children and young people are not only the objects of the research, but also researchers themselves about their relationship with online tools and their perceptions of youth participation in society.

The idea of the project is to cross children and young people perspectives concerning digital society with adult stakeholders’ perspectives of young people in digital society.

Obviously, we have got very different views of the same reality.

In Italy, stakeholders identify as most neglected issues related to young people by the government and the national media quality education and job opportunities, whereas for young people the most relevant issues are intercultural understanding in terms of inclusion, positive discrimination, internet safety and gender discrimination. According to youth perspectives education and employment should be the key elements to dignify their lives and overcome the above mentioned challenges for the present and the future young generations.

The student from Rome University La Sapienza wrote: “Today young people’s opinion is widely excluded from the political discourse and in decision making processes”.

We are working on that, TOGETHER, in WYRED!

WYRED Presentation at Van Governorate (Turkey)

On the occasion of the activity “ Youth-Friendly Social Policies’ Training course”, linked to the EU Project coordinated by the Van Gobernorate (Turkey) “Youth-friendly Social Policies (YoFSoP)”, students and practitioners from different countries joined the course to learn and discuss about social policies for youth. From the University of Salamanca, one student attended this training action and took the opportunity to present the activities and main objectives of WYRED Project.

The topics covered in the training program were: Youth as a Social Individual, Social Responsibility, Inclusion in Social Policies, Education in Social Policies, Health in Social Policies, Social Policy Proposal Workshops, Activity Plan For Future. The participants gained sufficiency in the field of developing social policies and have responsibility about social policies in their organizations.
